Fitness Instructing (Gym-Based Exercise) Level 2: YMCA

  • Overview of the course

    This course is ideal if you are looking to become a Fitness Instructor. It is also the first stage of becoming a Personal Trainer. We run this course in our fully equipped fitness suite and state of the art classrooms.
  • What you'll learn

    more less
    During this course you will learn the basics of anatomy, physiology and nutrition in the context of fitness training. You will also learn the basics of how to instruct a number of different gym based activities including the safety requirements and communication processes of a professional Fitness Instructor.
  • Entry requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements however, you will need a passion for fitness.
  • How will I be assessed?

    Throughout the course you will build a portfolio of your learning. There will also be a written exam and a practical assessment.
  • Is there anything else I need to know?

    As part of the course you will be required to learn in both a class and practical setting (fitness suite) so you will need to wear appropriate clothing such as trainers and sports kit. You will be expected to practice your learning away from the course in order to develop the skills required to pass the practical assessment. This course is assessed by a fully qualified, industry experienced Assessor.

    On successful completion of this course you are able to gain employment within the Health & Fitness industry as a Fitness Instructor. If you already have experience within the industry this qualification will help you progress on to the Level 3 Personal Training Diploma which we run at 91ÖÆƬ³§.

    All learners will complete an individual learning plan which will be discussed with their tutor throughout the course.
